Council declares 2017 phone system surplus to allow disposal or auction

The Olivette City Council voted Oct. 14 to declare the city's telephone system (asset number 06958) surplus after staff implemented a new phone system.
Darren Mann, finance director, told council the system was installed in April 2017 and is now end of life. "It was put in in 2017, and it's at end of life status now," Mann said, adding that some components may have resale value and staff plans to explore auction options such as GovDeals.
Council moved to declare the asset surplus for disposal by auction or scrap. The motion carried with Council member Lewis, Council member Pashawn Hellman and Mayor Clark voting yes; two members were absent (excused).
Mann said staff will evaluate market options and return to normal disposal channels for surplus equipment.
