Ashe County adopts Operation Greenlight proclamation to honor veterans

Ashe County commissioners on Nov. 3 approved a proclamation supporting Operation Greenlight, a nationwide campaign led by the National Association of Counties and county veterans service officers that encourages communities to shine a green light to recognize veterans.
Missy Parker, the county veteran service officer, described the initiative and said Ashe County residents and businesses are encouraged to change one light to green from the campaign start date (campaign dates were noted in materials). The board moved, seconded and approved the 2025 Operation Greenlight proclamation by voice vote.
Parker said tea lights and informational materials are available at the Veterans Services office (Suite 2100, second floor of the courthouse) for residents who want more information.
