Administrator Scott Hilt and staff explained the quiet-zone agreement for the CN corridor, saying the corridor is governed by a multi-jurisdictional agreement led by Buffalo Grove and that an engineering review (by RANA North America, formerly Patrick Engineering) is done periodically to ensure all crossings comply so the corridor retains its horn-silencing status. Hilt said compliance must be maintained across all participating communities or the quiet zone status could be lost.
