Mustafa Altinda (Central Texas) and Dr. Chenkin (assistant area superintendent) described the campus as K–8 and facing concentrated needs: high economically disadvantaged rates (reported at 96 percent), high percentages of at-risk and English-language-learner students (reported at 92 percent and 90 percent, respectively), and significant staff turnover (presenter cited roughly 58 percent retention last year). They said the campus has fluctuated on state accountability ratings and that the district’s goal is to move the campus toward a C rating by improving Domain 1 student achievement and preserving gains on Domains 2A and 3 (student growth).
Planned actions include partnering with Region 13 for outside diagnostics, schoolwide routines and culture work, more frequent instructional-leadership team (ILT) observation cycles, biweekly data meetings, vertical-alignment PLCs, non-announced district observations and a schedule to review interim assessments. The presenters said the TIP (targeted improvement plan) submission would occur no later than Nov. 14 and that district staff will continue audits and monthly Region 13 check-ins.
A board member moved to approve the plan; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
