Council heard a report from Ventura Solutions on its interim city-administrator contract and the included executive search. Under the current contract Steve has been serving as interim administrator for a four-month term that runs through Oct. 15 unless the council acts to extend it.
Ventura Solutions outlined the executive-search work included in the contract and said a comprehensive search typically takes about six months to complete, depending on candidate availability and relocation timing. The consultant recommended the council consider allowing an extension of the interim arrangement while the search proceeds to maintain administrative continuity.
Council members discussed timing and agreed there should be time for council deliberation before a formal action on the contract extension. No formal vote to extend was recorded during the meeting; the council reached consensus to discuss the extension in a future session.
The consultant reaffirmed the firm will perform a full executive search as described in the contract if the council chooses to proceed; the firm'9s proposal noted an alternative cost for a full third-party executive recruit would be substantially higher than the current interim contract.
