The Edmonds School District Board approved its school board legislative priorities for 2026 in a single reading and voted to extend the district’s 2021–2026 strategic plan for one additional year.

Board members said advancing priorities early in the legislative session will help the district’s advocacy in Olympia. The district’s communications staff prepared a public‑facing summary of board priorities; members thanked staff for clear visuals and messaging intended to aid outreach to legislators.

On the strategic plan extension, a director explained the five‑year plan’s first two years coincided with COVID disruptions and said the district needs another year to fully implement action plans, performance indicators and to align superintendent goals with the plan. The motion to extend the 2021–26 plan passed by voice vote; the board said staff will reassess progress next year.

Both actions were carried without recorded roll call; staff said members will follow up with legislators and publish materials to support constituent engagement during the upcoming short legislative session.
