Commissioners considered two separate items involving county facilities and contracts.
Master facilities and comprehensive financial plan: A commissioner asked to postpone approving the second annual update after staff renamed a portion of the plan "Valley County Event Venue," which the commissioner said could be misleading and remove the explicit reference to the fairgrounds. The board voted to table the item for further discussion so commissioners can discuss preserving the fairgrounds reference.
Cascade Annex renovation contract: Commissioners reviewed a proposed contract with Pacific West Construction (also referenced in the meeting record as Century Contractors DBA PacWest Construction) for renovations to the Cascade Annex. Commissioner Caldwell and other commissioners asked that the contractor's public-works license be memorialized in the contract. A motion was made and seconded to approve the contract with the amendment that a copy of the contractor's public-works license be attached as Exhibit A; the motion carried by voice vote. Staff said they will prepare the amendment this afternoon and bring the corrected document for signature.
Commissioners thanked staff (Arnie) for negotiating the contract and noted staff verification of the contractor in the licensing database. The meeting record shows the agreement will be approved subject to the amendment that the license copy be attached as an exhibit before work begins.
