Council approves amendments reallocating funds for construction inspection on North Kentucky and Curtis Street projects

The Mexico City Council on Oct. 27 approved two related resolutions authorizing amendments with Bartlett West Incorporated to reallocate task order funding and provide additional construction administration and inspection services on the North Kentucky Street stormwater improvement project and the Curtis Street street project.
City staff said Bartlett West is the design engineer for the projects and that the amendments add full-time construction inspection and administration services. Staff explained one supplemental agreement would involve a net increase in cost of $32,000 after Bartlett West reallocated unused design hours and that the city had discussed the reallocations with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Staff also acknowledged confusion in the meeting about which grant would be used, and clarified during discussion that the funding would come from a project-specific grant referenced in the meeting packet.
Council read the resolutions by title and approved both measures on roll-call votes. The transcript records "yes" votes from Weber, Miller, Ray, Briggs and Hague for both items.
Staff said the additional inspection is intended to improve project outcomes and construction quality and to help keep the projects on timeline.
