The Excelsior Springs City Council approved Ordinance 25‑11‑03 on Nov. 3 to rezone a portion of the property at the northeast corner of Crown Hill Road and U.S. Highway 69 — land owned by the Masonic Lodge — from District R‑1 (single‑family residential) to District C‑2 (general commercial). Joshua Garrett, city planner, told the council the lodge is subdividing a portion of the property that abuts Highway 69 to build a new lodge building; staff and the planning commission recommended approval.
Councilmembers moved the ordinance to second reading and later approved it on final reading by roll call. No councilmember identified specific use plans beyond the lodge’s stated intent to build a new lodge facility on the rezoned parcel.
