Council approves modest fee increases at municipal golf course after record year

The Excelsior Springs City Council on Nov. 3 approved Ordinance 25‑11‑02, amending the municipal code schedule of fees for the city golf course.
Golf pro Austin Hardison told council the course had its highest revenue year and that staff conducted a market analysis comparing Shoal Creek, Miner Park and Hodge Park. Hardison said daily rates will increase $1 across the board and annual membership fees will rise $100 across the board except junior membership, which will increase $40. He discussed how reopening of nearby courses (notably Swope Park) could shift rounds but said pricing differences and changes to competitor membership products create opportunities to retain or grow some play.
Council moved the ordinance to second reading and approved it on final reading by roll call. The ordinance updates Title 1 Appendix A of the municipal code. No specific revenue projection tied to the fee change was provided at the meeting.
