The Excelsior Springs City Council approved Ordinance 25‑11‑01 on Nov. 3, authorizing the city to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the MARC (Mid‑America Regional Council) Solid Waste Management District for participation in the regional household hazardous waste collection program.
Public Works Director Chad Birdsong told the council the one‑year agreement for 2026 totaled $12,013.32 and was budgeted under refuse. He said the amount was based on U.S. Census Bureau 2024 population estimates and a per‑capita rate of $14; Birdsong noted a 2024 computed amount of $10,005.38 under that per‑capita calculation and referenced recent partnership events including a mobile event in Richmond on Oct. 18.
Council moved the ordinance to second reading and later approved the ordinance on final reading by roll call.
