Council approves $17,214 supplemental task order for 2025 streetscape maintenance project

The Excelsior Springs City Council on Nov. 3 approved Resolution 1620 to authorize a supplemental task order with Lamprey Anderson (supplemental task order number 2024‑1.01) for additional construction administration and observation on the 2025 streetscape maintenance project.
Public Works Director Chad Birdsong told the council that the 2025 Street City project is complete but that Lamprey Anderson requested an additional $17,214 for engineering services related to base repair oversight with All Pro Asphalt. Birdsong explained that lower than expected bids allowed the city to add scope (including Italian Way), and that delays caused largely by CPKC railroad work extended the construction schedule and required ongoing observation. "The biggest thing was the railroad...they kept every time they give us a date...another probably 2 or 3 weeks," Birdsong said, describing how railroad scheduling pushed back completion.
Birdsong provided a project cost summary showing combined costs for the base repair/overlay, chip seal, UBAS and engineering and material testing totaling $1,372,238. He told council the original design budget was $100,000 for engineering and $1,400,000 for construction, and that available transportation trust funds were allocated to cover the supplemental request. A motion to approve Resolution 1620 passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
