“My son is 10 years old…he’s becoming more aware of how climate change is impacting kids like him,” McGinnis said during public communication, and asked the task force to “make sure that climate action is a substantive and sizable part of it.”
McGinnis urged the task force to require greenhouse‑gas emissions analyses for bond projects and to build them “to a higher standard of sustainability,” arguing that a clear climate narrative could strengthen voter turnout for the bond. She said framing the bond as an investment in children’s future health and safety would help persuade voters.
The remarks were part of the public comment period and do not represent a formal task force policy. Task force members discussed where climate materials should appear in forthcoming outreach, and the Office of Climate Action and Resilience later described plans to deliver a screening‑level life‑cycle carbon analysis of proposed projects.
