One council member said curb and gutter had been installed on a related Lot 6 but that the deannexed lots would lack similar infrastructure and would likely rely on nearby private utilities.
Council members also discussed the location of existing right-of-way and how a future city street alignment (referred to in discussion as Market Road) was platted and could allow reannexation in the future if the city built in that direction. Members emphasized they preferred to hear directly from the petitioner about motives and infrastructure plans.
A motion to table the ordinance until the owner/petitioner could attend was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. Council directed staff to invite the petitioner to a subsequent meeting so the petition can be discussed with the petitioner present.
