Councilman Bullock presented a district spotlight on Oct. 27 detailing community investments and reuse projects in West Baltimore.
Bullock described a new Boys & Girls Club site that will serve about 300 children daily and lauded partners including the Baltimore Ravens and the Machado Family Foundation. He highlighted adaptive reuse of former Alexander Hamilton Elementary School as an intergenerational center in partnership with General Services, Housing & Community Development and Catholic Charities, and described "The Factory," a 33,000-square-foot former gelato factory renovated into a hub for nonprofits, workforce development and community events operated by the West Baltimore Renaissance Foundation in partnership with LifeBridge Health. "The Factory" houses programming including workforce and violence-intervention partners, a future construction pre-apprenticeship suite, digital-literacy labs and a commercial kitchen fundraiser to support food-rescue operations.
Bullock also pointed to new lab and office development crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and highlighted cultural sites including the B&O Railroad Museum and renovations at Howards Market as evidence of reinvestment.
