City updates: industrial expansions prompt planned road improvements; land offer to extend Malcolm Mosby Drive

City staff updated council on industrial park activity that will require city road improvements and on a proposed land donation to enable a future extension of Malcolm Mosby Drive.
Staff said Lazy Boy is planning an expansion on Donovan Williams Drive and Mass Depot has an expansion near Donovan and Francis Shaw Avenue; both projects will increase traffic and necessitate road improvements. Staff recommended near‑term work (ditch clearing, tree removal and overlay) to improve roadway function and said road base appeared adequate.
Separately, staff said property owners approached the city offering to donate land between Second and Howard Busch Drive to facilitate the Howard Busch/Malcolm Mosby extension that was planned in prior city studies. If council has no objection, staff will work with donors to secure dedication of right of way for future road construction. The council indicated no objection and asked staff to proceed.
