The Neosho City Council approved an ordinance authorizing a permanent easement to Empire District Electric Company to permit construction, installation and maintenance of electric and communications lines to a relocated connection serving the recycling center. Council approved the measure unanimously, 7–0.
Nate, a city staff member, told council the easement is needed because increased electrical requirements tied to the recycling‑center expansion require relocation and access for the electric provider. During discussion a council member noted the ordinance title included the words "emergency measure" in error; staff clarified the bill body does not include emergency authority and the ordinance was acted on as a routine measure.
Council moved and seconded the measure for discussion and then approved the ordinance by roll call, 7–0.
