The proclamation noted the Community Media Center of Carroll County provides resources for nonprofits, schools and governments to produce local digital content; broadcasts and live‑streams more than 50 meetings for the town each year; partners with schools on internships; and operates local sports coverage and a 24/7 channel dedicated to local sports programming. The mayor and council thanked the executive director and board chair for their work and acknowledged challenges facing community media, including declining franchise fees and pending federal legislation that could alter local franchise authority.
Council members signed the proclamation and a brief photo opportunity followed. The council asked staff to provide copies of the signed proclamation for the Community Media Center and to continue monitoring federal policy that could affect franchise rights and funding.
