Birdville ISD recognizes principals, PTAs and accepts donations on consent agenda

Trustees at the Oct. 23 Birdville ISD Board meeting recognized district principals and community partners and approved several donations as part of the consent agenda.

President Kunkel thanked the Association of Texas Professional Educators for providing dinner to the board and leadership. Phil Beckman, Birdville ISD’s manager of community engagement and strategic partnerships, presented the Birdville ISD Council of PTAs with the Texas PTA Fall Community Builder Award, saying the honor “is presented to local and council PTAs that demonstrate outstanding commitment to building membership and strengthening engagement within their school communities.” The council was invited forward for photos and recognition.

Trustees acknowledged a set of donations that will be accepted through the consent agenda. The items announced in open session included campus PTAs from Porter and Green Valley elementaries donating funds to their campuses; the Birdville Education Foundation donating funds to the Haltom High School band; a donation from Keller ISD’s CTE program of a new electric vehicle kit intended for the Birdville ISD CTE department; and a donation to the Bechtel robotics program from a technology support group. President Kunkel asked the board to accept these donations as part of the consent agenda; the consent agenda was approved without items pulled and passed unanimously.

The board also recognized principals in observance of Principal Appreciation Month. Phil Beckman noted the district principals’ combined years of service and that several principals are Birdville ISD graduates; trustees and administrators gathered for a group photo.

Dr. Stinson also noted a proclamation signed by North Richland Hills Mayor Jack McCarty acknowledging Red Ribbon Week; the board discussed distributing the proclamation and publicizing the effort.

All recognition items and donations announced in open session were approved as part of the motion adopting the consent agenda.
