County launches new electronic medical record and four-site food drive

County administration told the Sawyer County Health & Human Services Committee on Nov. 3 that the department had gone live with a new electronic medical record (EMR) system intended to improve interdepartmental communication and client tracking.
"We did kick off, today going live with our new EMR," Carrie said, describing the system as more robust than the old system and noting staff training is underway. She said the EMR should help identify clients enrolled in multiple programs and streamline charting and interdepartmental workflows.
Administration also reported a county food drive that began Oct. 29 and runs through Nov. 14. The drive collects food for distribution to four food pantries in Hayward, Stone Lake, LCO and Waldo Center; county staff offered to pick up donations from businesses for distribution. "We're looking at distributing [to] Hayward, Stone Lake, LCO, and Waldo Center," an administrator said, describing the effort as coordinated to reach food pantries across the county.
The EMR rollout and food-drive distribution were presented as operational updates; no formal committee action was taken. County staff highlighted anticipated benefits from improved billing and client-tracking that could support revenue capture for programs that bill Medicaid and other payers.
