Commissioners approve notice for early closure on Dec. 24; staff to post notice

Commissioner Duncan proposed on Nov. 3 that county departments be allowed to close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, as was allowed the previous year. "Last year we allowed the departments to choose if they were going to shut their doors at 3 on December 24," Duncan said, and he asked the board to adopt the same practice for 2025.
Commissioner Eberline voiced support and asked staff to post the notice. County staff confirmed they would prepare and distribute the notice announcing the early closure option to departments and the public.
The discussion was procedural and no formal amendment to county policy or vote authorizing a permanent change was recorded. Staff will publish the Dec. 24 notice as directed.
