Clallam County attorney's office reports small increase in STOP grant; new coordinator hired

The Clallam County attorneyoffice presented its annual STOP (ServicesTargeting Offenders and Victims) grant package and introduced the office's new victim wellness coordinator, Daryl Trowbridge.
Staff said the county's STOP award this year is $16,992 and that, with Trowbridge working 32 hours per week, the grant covers slightly more than 30% of his salary. The grant requires a local match of just over $5,000; the attorney's office historically uses prosecuting-attorney work on qualifying cases to meet the match.
Staff also reported that the Office for Crime Victims Advocacy has signaled upcoming changes that would concentrate larger awards in fewer jurisdictions, which could make Clallam ineligible under the proposed criteria. County staff said they have not yet received official written guidance and will continue to apply while tracking eligibility changes.
Commissioners gave staff permission to proceed with the recurring pre-application and asked staff to report back if the state guidance changes in a way that affects future eligibility.
