Council accepts $465,105.74 bid for COTA bus stops and Sawmill sidewalk connection

Dublin City Council on Nov. 3 voted to accept a low bid of $465,105.74 from Strauser Paving Company for the COTA bus stop improvements and Sawmill Road sidewalk-connection project.
Staff said the project will construct five bus stops with concrete pads, canopy structures, benches, combination trash/recycle bins and two bike racks. Council had previously discussed the project in Public Services Committee meetings in 2023 and 2024. Staff added the Sawmill sidewalk to create a connection to the Dublin Food Pantry access drive. Two bids were received; Strauser’s bid was about 7% below the engineer’s estimate. Staff reported unencumbered CIP fund balance is sufficient to cover project costs and recommended award.
Council members asked who will maintain the stops; staff said the city will handle maintenance because current ridership does not meet COTA’s threshold for taking over maintenance.
