Board authorizes advertising for potential Laurel Oak Village MSBU to resurface neighborhood roads

Public Works Director Shane Parker presented a request from the Laurel Oak Village Property Owners Association asking the county to initiate the Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU) process to finance road resurfacing.
Parker said the POA wanted the option in the toolbox if the community decides to move forward. He reported approximately 67% of residents had indicated support and asked the board for permission to advertise and schedule public hearings, with the intent to place any final assessment on the trim notice in June should the POA choose to proceed.
A commissioner moved to approve staff's recommended option to begin the MSBU process and the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. Staff said they would publish required notices and follow the MSBU public‑hearing sequence if residents continue to favor the assessment.
The action authorizes staff to advertise the public‑hearing sequence required by state law for MSBU formation and to present the proposed assessment timeline to the residents for decision.
