Connorton Elementary School opened with a short welcome emphasizing the school as “a place to belong, a place to become.” Presenters said the school follows a vision of rigor, relevance and relationships and reported that reading proficiency is 11 points above the state average and that the school ranks in the top 50% of Florida elementary schools.
Speakers described programs designed to support the unique needs of all learners and characterized Connorton’s teachers as long-term staff who build trust and stable learning environments. The presentation noted a variety of after-school programs intended to help students explore interests, build new skills and socialize with peers.
Closing remarks stressed family and community partnerships and restated the school’s tagline, noting that family-centered activities are essential to a welcoming environment.
