Library trustees adopt revised Great Ponds Gallery policy

The Lakeville Library Board of Trustees voted Oct. 29 to adopt the revised Great Ponds Gallery policy (dated Sept. 25).

The vote followed committee review and a discussion about whether the gallery application should be embedded in the policy or remain a separate web form. The board noted three distinct application types — the regular application, a collection application for historical items, and a jury application for high‑school students — and agreed to leave the applications separate from the policy text on the website.

Trustees and committee members described the review as thorough. Library staff listed current gallery committee members and associate members, and explained how the gallery’s application and jury process handle student and collection exhibits. The policy as adopted reflects the committee’s recommendations and committee‑approved changes from the previous draft.

The motion to approve the Great Ponds Gallery policy was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote. Board members did not propose additional substantive changes at the meeting and asked staff to circulate final materials to trustees and the gallery committee.

Board members said they will proceed with the adopted policy and continue to coordinate show scheduling and placement with staff and volunteer committee members.
