Wilson County commissioners on Nov. 3 adopted the NASH Edgecombe Wilson Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan, the regional five-year update that identifies hazard risks, vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies needed to maintain eligibility for FEMA mitigation funding.
Bridal Thompson, development services director, said the plan must be updated every five years to maintain pre- and post-disaster mitigation funding eligibility. Commissioners asked whether relevant county departments were engaged; Thompson confirmed emergency management and other departments had input. The planning board recommended approval with conditions previously discussed.
The board moved and adopted the resolution to approve the regional hazard mitigation plan by voice vote; no public comment was recorded on the item.
