The Wynwood Design Review Committee on Nov. 4 approved a protruding blade sign for the business listed on the agenda as La Tropical at 42 Northeast 20 Fifth Street in the Wynwood Industrial District.
A sign designer presented the proposed blade sign and its dimensions (111 inches by 30.5 inches) and described a rustic steel finish with LED/neon illumination along the border. The presenter showed examples from Wynwood and said the proposed sign would combine steel, bulb-style lighting and neon elements. A marketing representative who identified herself as Irina said the business has been open since 2021 and described it as a brewing company with on-site restaurant service.
A committee member advised the applicant that the example signs shown in the presentation were not closely similar enough to the proposed design and recommended bringing closer comparables on subsequent presentations. The committee nevertheless moved to approve the application; the transcript records the approval by voice vote without a roll-call tally.
Materials on file include nighttime renderings, dimensional callouts, and site photos showing the sign location above a loading dock and adjacent to the building entrance and a mural that marks the customer entry. The committee did not record additional permit conditions in the transcript.
