County staff told the board that the Health and Human Services foundational public-health funds include multiple eligible categories, and a portion of roughly $159,773 had been in categories the county could not use. The revision increases budget authority by $74,773 so those funds can be returned to the State of Washington rather than remain in restricted, unused categories.
A motion to adopt the resolution was moved and seconded; the board approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff said this action aligns the county budget with grant terms and prevents loss or misallocation of state-provided funds.
The action affects the Health and Human Services Foundation public-health services fund and will be reflected in the county's accounting records and in subsequent grant reconciliation.
