LaSalle County nursing home committee reviews capital-improvement projects included in finance committee budget

Committee members discussed capital improvements for the LaSalle County nursing home Nov. 3 after a member requested details about what the finance committee had approved.

Kathy Steins, staff member, said she would provide the full printed list at the next committee meeting and offered to distribute it by the end of the week if members wanted it sooner. She said there were about 10 projects in the package and that eight were approved in the budget.

Steins listed items included in the approved work: water tower cleaning; a new bus; exterior cameras; a buzz-in front door system; video-camera upgrades to link nursing stations with the three hallways and call-light monitoring; replacement or repair of kitchen and laundry room fire doors; sidewalks (described as small or temporary work); and a floodgate for the boiler room. She cautioned she might be omitting an item and said the complete list would be provided in writing.

There was no formal vote on capital projects at the committee meeting; Steins said the item will be on the committee agenda next week for fuller review.
