On Nov. 3 the Avondale City Council considered a motion to reconsider its Oct. 20 action on midyear public‑safety salary adjustments. Councilmember White moved to reconsider, with a second from Councilmember Solorio. The motion did not receive the required number of affirmative votes and therefore failed; the prior council action remains in effect.
City staff had explained the reconsideration procedure before the vote, noting that if the motion to reconsider passed the council could revisit or amend the earlier decision. After the vote Mayor Peneva confirmed that the previously adopted schedule (including the Jan. 5 timeline referenced) remains in place.
Council discussion before the vote included brief comments from members asking for clarification and indicating they had reviewed staff presentations delivered earlier in the meeting. Because the motion failed no further action on that agenda item was taken at the Nov. 3 meeting.
