Norton City Council on Nov. 3 moved to place a 180‑day moratorium on the receipt, processing, issuance and approval of any zoning‑certificate application for NAICS 518 data‑processing and hosting services, sending ordinance 1082025 to first reading.
"I'm hoping it's just an error and it should be 180 years," resident Michelle Yasko said during public comment, criticizing the proposed moratorium length and urging stronger protections for Norton residents. Susan Welch, in an emailed statement read aloud at the meeting, urged council to use the forthcoming comprehensive plan to craft zoning standards that would both protect neighborhoods and leave opportunities for economic development.
