Pablo Malavenda, executive program director at Lafayette Urban Ministry, told the council the Greater Lafayette Homelessness Steering Committee will host a free screening of the documentary Beyond the Bridge, followed by a panel discussion and community conversation on Nov. 13. The event is intended as a launch for local planning and action to address homelessness.

Malavenda said filmmakers Don Sawyer and Tim Hashko will attend and that panelists will include local leaders and practitioners: Wes Tillett (executive director, Lafayette Urban Ministry), Dawn Baldwin (who will share lived experience), State Rep. Chris Campbell, Jennifer Layton (CEO, LTC Homeless Services), Judge Sarah Wyatt, and Chelsea Herring (Coalition for Homeless Intervention and Prevention, Indianapolis). He said Mayor West Worski, Mayor Easter and Commissioner Murtaugh are scheduled to offer closing comments.

The event is free; organizers said it is funded by several members of the steering committee and is aimed at residents, service providers, elected officials and businesses to foster cross-sector action toward ending homelessness in Greater Lafayette.
