Mariposa students, partners mark Red Ribbon Week with board proclamation

Heather Livingston, youth coordinator supervisor at Mariposa Safe Families, introduced student leaders on Oct. 21 who asked the board to proclaim October as Red Ribbon Week. Cara, identified as Friday Night Live president, described school activities including assemblies, contests and a banner-signing pledge at Mariposa County High School and middle schools.
"If everyone does a little, no one has to do a lot. Happy Red Ribbon Week," Cara said at the podium.
Board members thanked the students and partners, calling the presentations an example of local youth leadership. Undersheriff Kevin Packard added the sheriff's office appreciation for the community partners that support the campaign.
The proclamation remained on the consent agenda and the consent agenda passed as presented.
