DuPage County Public Works committee approves routine contracts, $130,000 budget transfer

At its Nov. 4 meeting the DuPage County Public Works Committee unanimously approved minutes and a series of routine contracts and purchase orders, and authorized a $130,000 transfer from contingency to benefit-payment accounts for retired employee payouts and payroll charges.
The DuPage County Public Works Committee on Nov. 4 approved routine minutes and a series of contract extensions and purchase orders covering snow-removal equipment, facility supplies, maintenance services and wireless device services.
The committee moved to approve minutes from the Oct. 21, 2025 meeting and then approved a budget transfer (agenda item 25-26-72) moving $130,000 from contingency accounts to cover benefit payments for retired employee payouts and payroll charges. The motion carried with no opposition recorded.
Committee members also approved a contract extension for Clark Deets Inc. to complete the county’s solar array phase 2 project (agenda item 25-26-73), and accepted bids and awards to Russo Hardware for an Arctic sectional snow pusher (not to exceed $16,639) and a snow wing and skid-steering mount (not to exceed $18,500). A renewal contract was approved for Best Technology Inc. to provide pistol range maintenance for the sheriff’s office (term 12/06/2025–05/2027; not to exceed $19,380), and a Valdez Supply contract was approved for restroom paper products to multiple facilities (term 12/01/2025–11/30/2026; not to exceed $104,794.16).
In action items the committee approved a purchase order to Verizon Wireless for tablets and machine-to-machine services for the sheriff’s transportation, stormwater and public works divisions (11/16/2025–09/30/2026; not to exceed $32,510) and a board-issued purchase to Enlarge for various public-works products (11/04/2025–11/30/2025; total $7,500).
Each motion was presented by the chair and carried after a call for discussion; the record shows the motions passed with the verbal response “Aye” and “Motion carries” for each item and no recorded opposition.
The committee then moved to presentations and discussion of two capital concepts: an indoor/outdoor touchscreen kiosk and a proposed memorial for victims of gun violence. Those items were presented as informational and to solicit committee direction.
