Columbia's Parks & Recreation Advisory Board announced the winning design for the borough's 300th‑anniversary logo at the Oct. 28 meeting.
Parks & Rec representatives described Columbia's history and the role of the Susquehanna River motifs in the chosen design. The winning submission, by Caden Matthews, an eighth‑grader at Columbia Middle School, was praised for its adaptability for print and digital uses. The board presented Matthews with a certificate and a $100 Visa gift card and said the logo will appear on banners, event materials and merchandise for the 2026 celebration. "Your design stood out for its originality and alignment with our values of inclusivity and innovation," the Parks & Rec chair said (00:03:36).
The advisory committee said it received more than 115 student entries from Columbia Borough schools and that the logo will be used in borough promotions related to the 300th anniversary.
No formal council action was required; the presentation was ceremonial and informational.
