Summary
The Siskiyou County Planning Commission unanimously recommended that the Board of Supervisors rezone roughly 318.73 acres of the Whiteland‑Walker property to Timberland Production Zone (TPZ).
The Siskiyou County Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend that the Board of Supervisors approve a zone change, Z2501, to rezone approximately 318.73 acres of the Whiteland‑Walker property from rural residential agricultural (RRB 40 and RRB 5) to Timberland Production Zone (TPZ).
Associate planner Bernadette Sison reported the parcel is 398.73 acres in total with about 80 acres already zoned TPZ and the remaining 318.73 acres proposed for rezoning to align zoning with historical and planned timber production. Sison said a registered professional forester prepared a timber management plan and mapping showing the property meets stocking level requirements referenced by staff (packet cites PRC section 4561). Staff recommended the commission find the project statutorily exempt from CEQA under the Timberland Preserve Exemption (transcript references CEQA section 15264) and adopt a resolution recommending Board action. Sison noted a correction in the resolution title in the packet: the resolution's title should read Whiteland/Walker rather than the name Bennett.
No public comments were received. The commission moved to adopt Resolution PC 2025‑017 recommending adoption of a draft ordinance rezoning the identified APNs to TPZ and approved the motion by roll call with unanimous support. Staff will forward the recommendation and the corrected resolution to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
