Planning Commission extends Almond tentative parcel map to April 2027

The Siskiyou County Planning Commission on a unanimous voice vote approved an 18‑month time extension to the Almond tentative parcel map, TPM2007‑2M, extending the map’s expiration to April 15, 2027.

Bernadette Sison, associate planner, told the commission that applicant Ivar Ammon requested a second 18‑month extension for the parcel map that was approved by the commission on April 20, 2022 and previously extended on March 20, 2024. Sison said the parcel map and an avigation easement have been submitted to Public Works for review and the avigation easement will be forwarded to the airport authority as required by a condition of approval. She said government code automatically provided a 60‑day extension because the application was submitted prior to the map’s original expiration date. Staff recommended approval and wrote in the packet that a sub-divider may request up to two 18‑month extensions as allowed by county code.

Sison also stated staff’s opinion that the time extension request is not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act and is not subject to CEQA, citing the CEQA guidelines referenced in the packet. No public comments were received and no county departments objected. Commissioner Mello made the motion to adopt Resolution PC 2025‑018 to determine the matter not subject to CEQA and to extend the Almond tentative parcel map; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair directed the clerk to note unanimous approval in the record.

The action only extends the tentative map’s expiration date; no changes to parcel configuration or new development were approved.
