Troy Waters, superintendent of Beach Grove Cemetery, reported to the council that the cemetery board currently has two vacancies after a recent death and a resignation. Waters said the board currently has five members and requested the city advertise the vacancies and invite interested citizens to apply.
Waters said state code and city ordinance indicate that a lot owner is eligible to serve on the cemetery board and that board members are typically required to be residents of Delaware County (not necessarily the City of Muncie). Council members asked staff to advertise the openings and to accept letters or emails of interest.
No appointment was made at the meeting.
