Butte County board authorizes chair to use electronic signatures on certain documents

The Butte County Board of Supervisors adopted Oct. 14 a resolution and amended county policy authorizing the board chair to use electronic signatures on certain documents, a change staff said will improve efficiency and reduce paperwork.
County staff told the board a 2020 policy already allowed electronic signatures for many county documents but excluded those signed by the board. The proposed amendment extends electronic-signature authority to the chair for specified contract and administrative documents; staff said the change will also enable faster emergency signing if the board or staff cannot sign in person.
If approved, county staff will partner with General Services to pilot the process beginning in November, with a goal of being fully operational by the start of the new year. The board approved the resolution by voice vote.
Board action: adopt resolution authorizing the chair to use electronic signatures on specified documents and amend the county policy (motion approved).
