Architects presented a package of repairs for McMahon Park's ball and softball fields that addressed failing retaining walls, hazardous guardrails, roof and soffit repairs on support buildings and site regrading.
The proposed scope included regrading around a middle softball field, rebuilding retaining walls and grandstands, salvaging existing shade structures for reuse, reroofing and fascia/soffit repairs on buildings, correcting a rut-prone gravel drive with asphalt millings, and adding ADA parking and sidewalks as needed. The construction estimate with fees and contingency came in just under $2,000,000.
Council moved and approved the proposed improvements in order to keep existing fields usable while the city advances construction of the larger youth sports complex in phases; the roll-call vote was unanimous.
