Council approves one-year contract with NOANET to coordinate municipal fiber services

At the Nov. 3 meeting the council voted to authorize Mayor Miller to sign contract 26-011-FBR-001 with NOANET to provide municipal fiber network coordinated services.
Miss Xu presented the contract, describing NOANET's role in network monitoring, 24/7 call-center support and outside-plant design and construction assistance. Xu said the vendor agreed to maintain the same pricing structure in place for the past five years and that the contract includes quarterly progress reports.
Councilmember Anthony Young moved to authorize the mayor to sign the contract; councilmember Moulton seconded. A roll-call voice vote followed: Walters, Cleland McGrath, Moulton, Hubick, Fantini and Young recorded "yes" during the roll call and the motion carried.
The contract is for an initial one-year term with two one-year extensions and was presented as an efficiency measure that avoids adding city staff to operate network monitoring and a call center.
