Century Village resident asks county to place the community entirely in one commission district
Summary
A Century Village precinct committee member asked the commission to realign district boundaries so Century Village falls entirely within a single commission district, saying the change would allow residents to vote as a unified community.
Donna Sansone, committee woman for Precinct 8607 of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County, urged commissioners to consider redrawing district lines so that all of Century Village lies within one commission district.
Century Village comprises more than 7,800 units and multiple condominium associations across several precincts, Sansone said, and currently some Century Village precincts are split between districts 2 and 7. She said the North Canal was used as a boundary when the parcel was purchased and proposed completing the effort before the next District 2 election to allow residents unified representation.
Sansone offered to gather petitions and said she had discussed the matter with Democratic counterparts; Commissioner Weiss has previously raised the topic at a board meeting, she said.
