Speakers urge Palm Beach County to expand recycling, hazardous-waste and multifamily services

“Sheila Calderon said items such as batteries, charging cubes, TVs, computers and paint should be diverted from the regular trash stream and that residents need clearer options for hazardous materials disposal,” a commenter said. Calderon and Linda Smith of the Sierra Club asked for expanded curbside service for multifamily housing, more collection points for single-use plastics and better outreach to encourage reuse and proper disposal.
Smith noted local programs such as paint-reuse drop-off and private takeback by some retailers, and urged commercial composting for restaurants. Speakers asked the county to track hazardous-waste volumes and to put more recycling bins in public spaces and multifamily complexes.
