The Madison City Common Council on Nov. 4 approved two administrative budget transfers and confirmed a tree-board reappointment.
Resolution 20 25 16 c authorizes a transfer within the NPD budget, moving $15,000 from the police part-time reserve into police department services to cover supplies, minor vehicle repairs and new officers’ equipment. Shirley, the city’s Clerk-Treasurer, read the resolution and Madison Police Chief Rick said the transfer reflects vacancies earlier this year and the need to cover ordinary operating costs.
The council then approved Resolution 20 25 17 c, transferring remaining funds from the Bethany Legacy Control Fund into the newly created Park Donation Fund. Clerk-Treasurer Shirley said the Bethany funds include reimbursements for Crystal Beach Pool admission and food given to low-income children this year and that the Park Donation Fund can be used for parks-and-recreation purposes including equipment, supplies and programming.
Mayor (unnamed) moved and a council member seconded each measure; both passed on roll-call votes. The roll-call record for Resolution 20 25 16 c shows these members voting yes: Patrick Tavanagh; Carla Krebs; Lucy D'Attillo; Josh Schafer; Jim Bartlett; and Josh Wilbur. Joel Storm was recorded as absent. The roll-call record for Resolution 20 25 17 c shows the same voting pattern with the listed members voting yes and one member absent.
Separately, the council approved the mayor’s recommendation to reappoint Jeff Matheny to the tree board for a term ending Dec. 31, 2027. The appointment passed on roll call with the same affirmative votes recorded.
All three votes were procedural and carried by the votes recorded at the meeting.
