Residents ask O'Fallon council for advance notice on neighborhood utility work; staff says fiber contractor must notify homes

Several residents used the Nov. 3 O'Fallon City Council public-comment periods to press for better advance notice when contractors will block streets or driveways, to recruit volunteers for a community Thanksgiving meal and to raise concerns about the warrant report and electronic voting machines.

Tommy Yates, Ward 4, told the council he had run into blocked driveways and sudden street closures during recent sewer and fiber work and asked for advance notice so residents can move cars and avoid missed appointments. "It's just a common courtesy to let us know ahead of time when these things are happening so we can make accommodations," he said.
