Board approves roof repair supplement for Holly Grove VFD, delegates small-grant authority and awards towing contract

At their Nov. 3 meeting the Louisa County Board of Supervisors approved three operational items intended to speed repairs and administrative response.
The board approved a budget supplement to move funding for roof repairs at Holly Grove Volunteer Fire Department from the Fiscal Year 2027 request into FY2026 after staff reported the roof is currently leaking. Missus Coleman presented the request and said the county will follow public procurement rules and reduce the FY2027 funding request by the same amount. The board approved the supplement unanimously.
The board also adopted a resolution authorizing county staff to apply for grants under $20,000 without waiting for prior board approval. Supporters said the change is an administrative convenience to streamline applying for small grants; the board approved the resolution by voice vote.
Finally, the board approved an award of contract for towing services to allow the county to remove or arrange removal of inoperable vehicles encountered during code enforcement. County staff said the contractor would be used when owners cannot or will not remove vehicles and that the board would be notified prior to contractor use. The resolution passed unanimously.
All three measures were approved with standard procurement language and no amendments.
