Council approves $7.9 million amendment for Tri Park Complex reimbursement, concluding city's capital commitment

The Omaha City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the Tri Park Complex Development and Management Agreement with MECA and the Downtown Riverfront Trust to reimburse additional project costs not to exceed $7,900,000.
Katie Bassett, speaking for MECA, described the additional work as related mostly to areas east of Eighth Street near the flood wall and adjacent parking lots. She said the funds will support engineering, permit closeout, resurfacing, additional surface parking, and some amenities such as pickleball courts. "Throughout the course of the riverfront project...extensive engineering and permit closeout has been needed, which is what this funding will go towards," Bassett said.
Council member Festersen asked about the broader redevelopment totals; Bassett said overall capital construction is about $330,000,000 plus roughly $60,000,000 for maintenance and programming — "close to $400,000,000 of redevelopment in the downtown area," she said — and confirmed the $7.9 million concludes the city's capital commitment. Pickleball courts were noted as already open.
The council approved the amendment on a roll-call vote, 7-0.
