During public comment, Ashley Hankins introduced herself as an applicant for the Oakdale City Council appointment. Hankins said she has lived in Oakdale for seven years, is completing a master's in social work at USC and is interning with individuals with severe mental illness. She described prior service in the U.S. Army (including Guantanamo Bay and Fort Leavenworth), work in behavioral health facilities and volunteer programs with incarcerated youth.
Hankins said her upbringing as an at‑risk youth and experience with social services motivate her to advocate for residents who face barriers, and she asked the council to consider her application for the open seat. She thanked the council for its time.
Mayor Barrios acknowledged Hankins' service; no council action was taken during public comment. The council later announced a public interview and appointment process scheduled for Nov. 12 at 5:00 p.m.
