The Lee County Board of County Commissioners issued four proclamations on Nov. 4 recognizing public‑health and community awareness observances for November 2025.
A lung cancer screening proclamation noted national mortality data and encouraged early detection through low‑dose CT screening. Nikki Adia, who spoke after the proclamation, urged eligible residents aged 50 to 80 to ask their doctors about screening and said, "Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths for both men and women," and that "early detection and early intervention saves lives." She described screening as available at no cost for eligible patients through local advisors.
The board also proclaimed Nov. 15, 2025, Responsible Dog Owner Day in Lee County, recognizing the Dog Obedience Club of Lee County and AKC programs. Lisa Bieber of the Dog Obedience Club described classes and services at the new Links Building location.
A separate proclamation designated November as Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month and commended the Lee County Continuum of Care and partners for decreasing overall homelessness and specific subpopulations in recent reporting periods. The board additionally proclaimed Nov. 18, 2025, National Injury Prevention Day to raise awareness of injury prevention and to highlight Lee Health trauma services.
The proclamations were ceremonial and no formal policy or funding action accompanied them.
